artistic director chris zelov was in the audience at our gatherings concert in 2007 in philadelphia, & and a result of what he heard, commissioned the band to provide soundtrack music. preparatory writing was undertaken, & these ideas were worked up alongside several improvisations at the recording sessions. we wrote to a series of specific scene lengths & briefs, with the idea that the music's presence would underscore the narrative. these pieces were then re-edited as the documentary entered its final cut. this album is a selection of music from the finished film, placed in this order for a coherent listening experience.
