this is an expanded version of our cd-r release philadelphia air-shot, which consisted of the second set we recorded for wxpn philadelphia's show 'star's end' in 2007. a listener recently suggested that we revisit the first set we recorded that night too, so here it is issued for the first time. we are somewhat puzzled why it didn't come out earlier, but what a pleasant surprise.

on the night of broadcast, show host chuck van zyl played out the second set first, and vice-versa. we've included as a bonus here for the sake of authenticity, the off-air recordings from the 'star's end' show complete with chuck's announcements, recorded back at the hotel when we should have been sleeping.

radio massacre international's sound defies categorization it is more magical than musical. the music is, first and foremost, improvisational. it is loose in structure but also searching. r.m,i. is all about generating the happy accidents that occur at the ever-changing intersection of multiple moving bodies. when two sequences converge fascinating things happen opening rhythmic and textural options that just moments before were closed to view. it is the creation and exploration of those options that dominates what r.m,i. does in its music.
